History in the country
Our activities in Namibia began in 2019 with a detailed geospatial analysis study as part of the preparation for the Rural Electrification Development Master Plan (REDMP) using our GEOSIM software. In 2022, we were recruited by AFD to support the due diligence process for financing the 40 MW Otjikoto Biomass Power Station (OBPS) for NamPower, which will generate electricity by burning wood chips from encroacher bushes.
As part of this project, we are establishing a five-year program for the environmental and social management of the biomass supply sector, aimed at rehabilitating the savannahs, funded by FFEM and MAF. In 2024, we will open our office in Namibia to implement this project.
Team
The project office currently has a permanent staff member based in Windhoek.
