The Solar Electricity Services Access Project (NESAP) is a key initiative within the 2012 Economic and Social Development Plan launched by the Government of Niger. The plan aims to achieve a universal electricity access rate of at least 60% by 2027. As part of this effort, NESAP includes a component focused on hybridizing existing diesel power plants with solar photovoltaic technology, which will enhance electricity production capacity by 9 MW.

This component of the NESAP project targets improving electricity access in 15 remote localities that are not connected to the national grid. It aims to increase electricity production capacity by 9 MW, reduce diesel consumption, enhance the quality of electricity service, and expand access to electricity for households and businesses that are currently underserved.
